THE EQUIVALENCE
If you have already worked in the transport sector, you can apply for recognition of professional aptitude by providing proof of one year's full-time activity as a professional driver of passenger transport. To apply for equivalence you need
- 12 months of full-time seniority or more than 12 months of part-time seniority (minimum 1607 hours in total) in the transport of PEOPLE (this does not work for the transport of goods or for delivery drivers for example).
- Applying to the prefecture
A complete file consists of the following documents:
1/ Proof of professional experience
Are you a licensed manager or self-employed?
- DRE licence of more than one year
- Certified copy of the licence
- Extract from the Kbis
Are you an employed driver?
- At least 12 pay slips corresponding to a full time job over one year
- The employment contract(s) for the period concerned
Are you an independent craftsman and do you drive for your own account?
- Extract of Kbis OR Siren statement (INSEE) with photocopy of the artisan card
- Balance sheet or other proof of professional transport activity for a minimum period of 1 year
- Photocopy of the professional Taxi card
2/ Administrative documents for ALL equivalence applicants
- Completed and signed VTC card application form (List of forms by prefecture below)
- Photocopy of a valid identity document (front and back)
- Photocopy of the B licence (front and back) that is more than one year old
- Certificate of medical fitness (less than 2 years old) issued by an approved doctor (List of approved doctors below)
- Proof of address in your name less than 3 months old
- 2 official passport photos
VTC EXAMINATION
In order to become a VTC driver, you must first pass the VTC exam. To do this, we advise you to follow a training course in order to put all the chances on your side. - *What documents do I need to register for the exam?
- Identification document ;
- Minimum 3 year old licence;
- Proof of address less than 3 months old (telephone, electricity, gas or water bill, rent receipt). If you are staying with someone, you must also provide a certificate of accommodation, as well as the front/back identity document of the person who is accommodating you.
- A signature;
- A passport photo.
- *Physical fitness is no longer required to register for the exam. It will be requested when you prepare your file for the printing of your VTC card !!!
The price of the exam is 206 euros. It is preferable to pay by credit card.
How to register?
Once you have gathered all these documents, go to the website https://depot.evalbox.com/#!/login. You must then follow all the steps of the registration process and import your documents. To finalise your registration, all you have to do is make the payment (we advise you to choose the payment by credit card). Once the payment has been accepted, you will receive your file number and a confirmation e-mail.
How does the exam take place?
The exam is divided into two parts: a theoretical part and a practical part.
The theory part: The test lasts 3 hours and 50 minutes and is presented in the form of MCQs (multiple choice questions). It contains 7 subjects:
- French ;
- English ;
- management ;
- marketing ;
- VTC regulation
- regulation of passenger transport ;
- road safety.
Once the test is over, the response time is approximately one month.

- A dual-purpose vehicle (not necessarily a VTC) that you need to hire
- The vehicle registration document (provided by the rental company)
- The vehicle's insurance (provided by the hirer)
- The green card of the vehicle's insurance (provided by the rental company)
- Rental contract (provided by the rental company)
- *3. The navigation system
- A GPS (the free "Waze" application is ideal)
- A GPS holder
4- Map
- A map of your test department with an index (you will have to search for the requested destination address even if you use a GPS afterwards)
5- Comfort
- Water bottles
- Bottled water
- Sweets
6- Quotations & Invoicing
- Some quotes ready to be filled in.
- Some invoices ready to be filled in.
- A pen and a calculator
- *The course of the test
During the first 6 minutes: the examiner points to a street and you must find it on your map. You must then enter the address into your GPS. Finally, you must make an estimate for this route. **Be careful not to exceed the time limit.
Next, you will be evaluated on 3 points:
- Customer service ;
- Road safety;
- Your tourist knowledge.
And that's it! You will then receive the results about a month after the exam! And we're keeping our fingers crossed!
